  1. The historical question refers to doctrinal standards. There is no disclarity about what these are. And these are not debatable. Issues of sexuality and many other issues are matters of ongoung discernment, and clergy are expected to be active participants in the conversation, conferencing and debate on these issues, not “in lockstep.”

    1. Good points, although I’ve read some book-length debates about whether the doctrinal standards include Wesley’s sermons.

      Do you think all elders affirm and teach the doctrines in the Articles and Confession?

      The sexuality issues are likely more relevant to vows regarding the polity … which I do not have the exact language of at the moment.
