A word from Charles: Let us plead for faith alone

Let us plead for faith alone,
faith which by our works is shown;
God it is who justifies,
only faith the grace applies.

Active faith that lives within,
conquers hell and death and sin,
hallows whom it first made whole,
forms the Savior in the soul.

Let us for this faith contend,
sure salvation is the end;
heaven already is begun,
everlasting life is won.

Only let us persevere
till we see our Lord appear,
never from the Rock remove,
saved by faith which works by love.

I’m at a loss to think of a hymn or sermon of either Wesley that more compactly gets at the essentials of Wesleyan theology. What we need is a contemporary musician to come up with a catchy new tune so we can get a new generation of people singing their theology.

  4. I did a project in 2006 where I rewrote a dozen Wesley hymns. To hear, go to my online store and click on listen button. Online player will pop up.

    1. Hi Wesley, as I sit here I’m listening to your latest music. How you exalt the Lord, it is wonderful. Music has been a special worship tool of mine and am very interested in this album. Do you have just music clips for soloist to sing your songs to? I know a couple of people who would be excited to share these words during their ministering in music. How blessed you are to be able to hear from the Lord with all this wonderful music. God Bless Millie S.
