Here in Indiana the cabinet is meeting and the churches and pastors are all waiting. Who will be moving? Who will be staying? Will that darn Bishop rob us of our beloved pastor? Will that darn Bishop finally listen to our pleas and take this cur from our midst?
As a part-time local pastor at a church way too small to support a full-time appointment, I am largely a spectator in all this, but I have been a layman in churches that were relieved or aggrieved by a new appointment.
This reminds me to make sure the church I serve is in prayer for the cabinet and all our brothers and sisters in the United Methodist Church. This is a season in which a movement of the Holy Spirit can bring great change. We should all be in prayer and earnestly calling on God to work God’s will mightily in these days.
